Summary of IRF Research

Corporate Meeting Crisis Planning | Andavo Meetings & Incentives | Denver, Colorado

Corporations today are finding that employee performance and satisfaction are not just linked to benefits, vacation days, and salary. They are now concerned with morale, wellness, and longevity of employees. Nearly 40% of US businesses are using incentive travel to reward and recognize their top performers. In just twenty years, non-cash rewards and recognition has skyrocketed from just 26% in 1996 to a staggering 84% in 2016.

Studies have shows that the most successful companies using incentive travel are seeing exemplary ROI across the board. Recent data indicates that the most common main objective of employee programs is improving morale (84%), followed by improving productivity (58%) and improving customer satisfaction (48%). Other objectives for employee programs include recognizing years of service (41%), promoting innovation (28%), promoting wellness (23%), promoting safety (14%), rewarding completion of training (9%), and promoting cost control (8%). Incentive travel, more than any other type of incentive, has proved to not only boost employee morale, but lead to gains in productivity and commitment to the corporation as well.

Top performing companies have a deeply-rooted belief in the validity of non-cash rewards and recognition programs as they were over 20% more likely to assert that these programs were effective tools for recruitment, retention, and engagement. Moreover, these companies were over 30% more likely to believe that non-cash reward and recognition programs positively influence behavior. Through incentive travel we create a beneficial cycle of positive gains – employers gain loyal, enthusiastic, and productive professionals while employees reach a sense of fulfillment, appreciation, and positive reinforcement for their hard work all leading back to a positive impact of a company’s overall bottom line.

Trends in the Industry

Some people are led to believe that incentive travel starts once people get on the airplane. But here at Andavo, we think the entire experience can be exciting and engaging long before the airport.

Imagine you have been selected as one of your company’s top performers and have been invited to the upcoming incentive trip to Mexico. All the winners are heading to the conference room for a meeting about the trip. But after opening the door, you notice something is different – is that a virtual reality headset at each seat? You find a place to sit down and are filled with both excitement and apprehension – this isn’t going to be your typical itinerary, safety, and air travel talk, is it?

Looking around you watch other people put on their headsets. “Wow!”, “Oh, cool!”, and laughter are abundant in the room. You lift up the headset, place it on and are instantly whisked away, far away from the conference room and email, and are suddenly walking around a lush forest with a huge cascading waterfall. You walk a bit further and find yourself on the beach, waves lapping up on the shore, pelicans gliding over the water when a menu of activities pops up in your line of sight, you reach out to scroll through the best and most authentic experiences in the region. But what to pick? A Whale Watching Safari, Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling trip, Extreme Forest Zip-Lining, Tequila Mixology class, Jungle & Waterfall Traversing? They all sound really terrific!

Incentive trips are so much more than beach vacations. Incentive trips of the past often revolved around basking in the sun for a few days, but this is no longer the case. Across the board, attendees are requesting trips that will provide an authentic experience, a cultural immersion, and above all, a sense of appreciation for all the hard work they’ve done. People desire to feel as though their company values them not only as an employee, but as a human being. Companies now, more than ever, are taking the time to curate experiences that are genuinely unique, innovative, and authentic. They want to broaden horizons and help employees see the world through a new lens, an international lens, a uniquely human lens. “If you want to keep people’s attention and you want to bond a group, you take them somewhere where the destination is part of the experience. It can’t be places they’ve been a million times, because then it becomes robotic.”

Destination Sourcing

Corporate Meeting Crisis Planning | Andavo Meetings & Incentives | Denver, Colorado

The destination is the first thing people think about. When your winners brag about the honor they are receiving, they first talk about where they’re going. After all, the vacation prize is what people are working for! Because we know the destination is at the heart of any incentive trip, Andavo uses a customized, relationship-based sourcing methodology aimed towards the ultimate attendee experience and realizing the organization’s goals.

While enticing, the destination will not stand on its own without connecting the event design to strategic objectives. Every decision is pointed at achieving subtle but purposeful opportunities for the company to engage with those who have been selected throughout their organization who “get it.”

These folks have demonstrated that they can lead the way in changing the culture so that growth will happen in a way that upholds behaviors that are Trusting, respectful, forward thinking to the new efficiencies that emerge with a global and inclusive reach. This seems like a different section.

Creative Design

Creative Design: Design an Engaging Theme and Carry It Throughout the Event

Corporate Meeting Crisis Planning | Andavo Meetings & Incentives | Denver, Colorado

Creative design isn’t just about the flowers on the table – it is the embodiment of the entire attendee experience. It is about how guests feel when they enter a space, how they interact with a company or sponsor brand, and what they take with them when they leave. We aim to incorporate your company goals and initiatives to expand the reach of the trip to more than just a vacation and truly make it meaningful with impactful touchpoints, attendee recognition, and corporate messaging.

But don’t let that lead you to think that these events are dry – far from it! Our design team creates stunning events with unexpected, cohesive themes that are ahead-of-trend at the top of creativity keeping your attendees feeling excited and appreciated… not to mention wanting to work hard to ensure they win again next year!

Marketing starts from the moment you announce the competition and carries through after everyone returns home from the trip. Creative messaging should enhance the trip experience building excitement, enthusiasm, and buy-in along the way. We will immerse the brand messaging with the program logo, theme, corporate initiatives, and content used throughout the entire engagement with fun applications including teaser videos, social media, augmented reality, signage and collateral, event décor, welcome amenities, pillow gifts, mobile app gaming, photo sharing galleries, post-event surveys, and so much more.

Maximize Human Engagement

Maximize Human Engagement

The incentive trip is about rewarding employees who have demonstrated elevated levels of brand advocacy. Creating space where this exceptional group can engage will deepen their emotional connection to their company and make them emissaries of the company brand and values upon their return.

  • Maximize the time you have with them by holding a mid-travel learning session. Pass out iPads to have people follow along with the presentation while on a train, bus or plane.
  • Infuse an emotional aspect into your event by holding a learning experience in a historical location such as Hamilton’s Nevis birthplace or the Monaco Grand Prix Museum, or the …. castle in Croatia, to add impact to your message.
  • Involve executives as the hosts: Record a special greeting for your participants from your C-suite and play it on the transfer. Or have leadership on the transfer to deliver the greeting in person and pass out their T-shirts welcoming all.
  • Provide daily gathering places for senior leadership to have open dialogue, listen, ask questions and bond with participants

Winners will have choices of one-of-a-kind cultural events and experiences they cannot replicate on their own. Our goal is to provide a deeper immersion into the destination such as having local guides, entertainers, or artists provide learning experiences crafted just for the participants. Team building activities that give back to the community’s children and schools can be tied directly to purpose of supporting education. Not only do out-of-the-ordinary experiences broaden the experience of your participants, it makes them feel like part of the community they’re visiting.
